First time Vlogging with the DJI Osmo Action

I’ve done a couple tech reviews looking at three-axis gimbals in the last month. While they always provided silky-smooth video footage, that came at a cost. They’re heavy and make your arms ache if you use them for longer than a few minutes at a time. However, there is an alternative… maybe. And it’s called “Rocksteady” by DJI. It’s the electronic image stabilisation built into the Osmo Action camera. The only way to know for sure was to test it out, and what better way to do that than a Vlogging test…

How does DJI’s ROCKSTEADY stabilisation compare versus Gimbal stabilisation? I was keen to see if the lightweight Osmo Action I recently bought could stabilise my video as well as a Gimbal. Unfortunately, a couple of squatters had occupied my studio, so they needed to be evicted first. Then, when I went to visit my local park, they came along to stalk me while I tested out these two very different stabilisation systems.
