Sri Dalada Maligawa

This was the LAST Sri Lankan Kingdom, before it was captured by the British Empire about 200 years ago. Today it’s known as the country’s cultural capital. The city of Kandy sits on a plateau in central Sri Lanka, surrounded by mountains, and is famous for its many temples, with the main attraction being the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth – Sri Dalada Maligawa shrine.

Sri Dalada Maligawa — THIS is the entrance to the room where they keep the tooth of the Buddha. They take it out once a year for an annual procession.
