I finally got around to doing my first proper YouTube video – after many, many, many, aborted attempts. I’ve filmed hours and hours of footage and just hated all of it. So, instead, I put a brief two-minute intro together as I can’t procrastinate on this task any more. Enjoy. 🙂
Hello and welcome to… whatever this is.
My first video. I thought I’d better make one
to introduce myself, tell you a little bit about me.
I’m Jay Shareef. I’m probably best
known for being a heterosexual
stand-up comedian and podcaster.
Although, truth be told it’s been more than a year
since I’ve done any podcasting or stand-up.
Or indeed heterosexuality.
Instead I’ve been busy working.
Working hard trying to pay the mortgage,
feed my family. The kind of things that
responsible adults are supposed to do.
Then the whole world changed!
Just because some horny communist
on the other side of the world decided to
get freaky with some endangered species and
suddenly we’re all the middle of a global pandemic.
Like many of you I’m pretty much stuck at home 24/7.
And I’ve decided this is a great opportunity to
pursue creative things, to learn something new.
To try something that you haven’t done
before, or expand your existing skills.
I’ve wanted to make videos for a long time now.
And clearly now is the time to stop
procrastinating and get on with it.
But the big question is:
“What do you make them about?”
Now my feeling is that whenever you
are involved in any creative endeavour,
you will do your best work if it’s
something that you’re passionate about.
Something that you love.
So what is it that I love?
Basically… Nerd things.
You know: Science. Technology.
Gadgets. All that kind of stuff.
But at the same time, I also love cultural things.
So… The Arts. History. Travel.
So that’s what I’m going to make my videos about .
I’m going to be sharing the things that I
know. And the experiences that I have.
I hope you have a lot of fun.
I hope I also enjoy it just as much as you do.
I’ll see you at the next video.
